What is the Reason for Choosing That Name?
Hector Barbossa is a character in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies - he has starred in the first four of them. He was once the captain of the Black Pearl, but lost his captaincy to Jack Sparrow. He had marooned Jack because he wanted to be captain - Jack was captain before him, and made Barbossa his first mate. Barbossa then persuaded the rest of the crew that Jack wasn't fit to run the ship, and they marooned him on a deserted island. Jack got off that island due to rum smugglers who gave him a ride back to land. From there, Jack was able to kill Barbossa and get his ship back. Later, Calypso brought Barbossa back from the dead, and was only able to do so because his body was preserved so well. After his death, he became captain for a short while. Barbossa was happy to be alive again, but still didn't have an excellent opinion of Jack, due to his being killed by him in a previous point in time. Barbossa is one of the nine Pirate Lords of the Brethren Court - he is lord over the Caspian Sea. Barbossa now lives in England as a privateer in the King's Navy, and was recently ordered to accompany Jack on his quest to find the fountain of youth.
I love Barbossa - he's witty, sarcastic, and an overall excellent character. He's a pirate through and through, and doesn't take well to those who are not as smart as he. He often says very deep, thoughtful things that you'd not expect a pirate to state. While having a bad opinion of Jack, he still tries to get along with the captain - at times begrudgingly - and may be considered one of the captain's few friends.
